What the price includes
Everything below is true of every ClassArc class, on every plan, at every price point.

How much a maths tutor costs in the UK
Published rate guides put online maths tuition in the UK at roughly £15 to £40 an hour, with private maths tutors more often quoted between £25 and £60, and in-person secondary tuition higher again. Those are advertised ranges collected from public rate guides in August 2026, not a survey we ran, and London is usually quoted above the national figure.
ClassArc is £11 to £16 for a 55-minute one-to-one class, depending on the year group and the length of the plan. We are showing you that comparison because it is the question you came here with, not as a claim to be the least expensive tutor in the country, which is not something anyone can actually verify.
What we would say is this: the number that matters is not the one you pay in September. It is whether you are still paying it in June, because the tutoring that changes a grade is the tutoring that lasts.
per 55-minute one-to-one class at ClassArc, depending on year group and plan length.
Affordable, not generic
The usual way to make tutoring cheaper is to give each child less of it — put four students in a class, shorten the lesson, hand out the same worksheet to everybody, or replace the teacher with a video.
We did none of those. The class is one-to-one, it is the full 55 minutes, the worksheets are built for your child's actual gaps, and there is a live teacher on the other side of it. What we have instead is a small team, no offices, no sales staff, and software we wrote ourselves rather than licensed.
That is the whole explanation. It is not a discount, an introductory rate, or a price that goes up after three months.
Cheaper by teaching more children at once is a different product. We wanted the same product at a price a family could keep paying.
How the price worksWho this suits
ClassArc is not right for everybody, and the FAQ below says plainly who it is not for. These are the families it does suit.
Regular one-to-one time over a term or a year, so a teacher can see how your child thinks and build on it — rather than four sessions before an exam.
One-to-one is the only setting where a child who has stopped putting their hand up in a class of thirty has nowhere to hide, and nothing to be embarrassed about.
A Year 9 student stuck on algebra often has a Year 6 fractions problem underneath. The free first class is spent finding which one it is.
Two years of steady work with one teacher who knows the specification, the tier and the two topics costing the marks.
A fixed per-class price with no joining fee and no materials fee, so the monthly figure is one you can decide about once rather than every term.
A full free lesson before any card is entered, so you are judging the actual teaching rather than a description of it.
What we teach
We follow the National Curriculum your child's school is teaching, and we ask which year group and exam board before the first class.
Before you pay anything
There is no card, no deposit and no obligation. It is a real 55-minute lesson, and most families decide from it.
You are being asked to judge a teacher. That is very hard from a description and quite easy from one lesson.
Why we do it this wayThe form at the bottom of this page. Year group, exam board if they are on GCSE, and a time that suits — nothing else.
By email and WhatsApp, in UK time, with the class time and a link. No card is requested at this stage or any stage before you decide.
A real class in the real classroom. The teacher spends it finding where your child actually is, not selling you a plan.
Pick a plan or do not. If the teacher was not the right match, we will arrange a second free class with someone else.

When you book a demo or sign up for classes, we collect your name, your child's name, email, WhatsApp number, time zone, and the grade you're inquiring about. That's it. We don't ask for or store any payment details on this website. We don't use trackers, cookies for advertising, or third-party analytics that profile you.
Only to schedule and run your classes, send you class reminders, share homework and progress, and answer your questions. We'll reach out by email or WhatsApp, depending on what you tell us works better for you.
Your teacher, and the small team supporting them at ClassArc. We never sell, rent, or share your information with anyone outside ClassArc. We use Formspree to receive form submissions, and standard email and WhatsApp for messaging, nothing else.
We treat any information about your child with extra care. We only collect what we need to teach them well, such as their grade and what they're working on. We never use a child's photo, name, or work in any marketing without the parent's explicit written permission.
You can ask us to show you what we have on file, correct anything inaccurate, or delete your data entirely, at any time. Just email hello@theclassarc.com and we'll handle it within a few days.

ClassArc is a one-on-one online tutoring service. We provide live, scheduled classes between a teacher and a student, along with homework, feedback, and study support.
Each class is 55 minutes. You can reschedule or cancel a class up to 5 minutes before it starts. If you miss a class without notice, we usually credit it back to your balance and reschedule based on what works for the teacher and student.
The first demo class is free, no card required. After that, plans are billed in advance for the number of classes you choose (8, 24, or ~48). We'll send you a payment link directly once you've picked a plan.
If you want to stop classes at any point, we refund whatever class balance is left on your plan. No questions asked, no friction. Refunds are processed within 7 business days.
We expect students and parents to treat teachers with respect, and teachers to do the same. We reserve the right to end the relationship if classes become unsafe, abusive, or disruptive, with a full refund of any unused balance.
If we update these terms, we'll email you before the changes take effect, so you have time to review them.
For anything, email hello@theclassarc.com.
