Quotes for the same thing range from about $15 to $85 an hour depending on where you live and what you are actually buying. This page sets out the published ranges for five countries, explains what makes them differ, and states our own prices in the same place — so you can judge any quote, including ours.
The short answer
Ask what a maths tutor costs and you will be quoted anything from about $15 to $85 an hour. That is not because some tutors are five times better than others. It is because the word "tutoring" is doing a lot of work — it covers a group of six children sharing one teacher's attention, a recorded video library with a chat box, a university student an hour before an exam, and a qualified teacher sitting with one child every week.
Those are different products at similar-sounding names. Before comparing two prices, it is worth checking that they are prices for the same thing.
The ranges below are what is commonly published in each country, gathered from public tutoring-rate guides and comparison sites and re-checked on 29 August 2026. They are not a survey we ran, and they are not a claim about any particular company. They are a starting point for reading a quote.
By country
Per hour, for one-to-one online maths tuition. In-person is usually higher, and senior or exam-year work is quoted above the general range in every market.
Why the spread
When two quotes differ by a factor of four, one of these is almost always the reason. Worth asking about each before agreeing to anything.
A group of five at a lower price per child is the most common way a tutoring price gets down to single figures. It is a legitimate product; it is not one-to-one, and the difference in what your child gets is large.
"Per hour" is frequently a 45- or 50-minute lesson. Ask what is taught, not what is billed. A 45-minute lesson at $30 is $40 an hour of teaching.
Recorded libraries, AI helpers and homework-answer apps are cheap because nobody is watching. They cannot notice that your child stopped following ten minutes ago. Live costs more to deliver, and it is the only thing that notices.
A good teaching salary costs very different amounts in different countries. This is the factor that moves the price most and says least about the lesson — which is exactly why it is worth asking about, whoever you are buying from.

Published in full, in five currencies, with no quote-on-enquiry and no discount that depends on how hesitant you sound. Prices start here and rise for senior years, which need more preparation.
Note the unit. Those are prices per class, and a class is 55 minutes — so they are close to, but not identical to, the hourly figures above. Full tables for every year group are on the pricing page for each market.
Being straight about it
Our teachers are in India. That is the whole explanation, and it is the fourth factor above rather than a discount. A good teaching salary costs far less there than in the countries we teach into, and that difference is what a parent in Sydney or Chicago is seeing.
It is not a difference in what your child gets. The class is still 55 minutes, still one teacher to one student, still weekly with the same teacher, still on the curriculum their school is actually using. We pay our teachers properly; we are not undercutting local tutors by underpaying our own people.
There is a real trade-off and it is worth naming: a teacher in another country cannot come to your house, does not know your child's school personally, and works across time zones. Early mornings in Australia and New Zealand are the one window we cannot staff properly, so we do not offer them.
The price difference is geographic. If it were coming out of the lesson, we would not put the prices next to each other on the same page.

When you book a demo or sign up for classes, we collect your name, your child's name, email, WhatsApp number, time zone, and the grade you're inquiring about. That's it. We don't ask for or store any payment details on this website. We don't use trackers, cookies for advertising, or third-party analytics that profile you.
Only to schedule and run your classes, send you class reminders, share homework and progress, and answer your questions. We'll reach out by email or WhatsApp, depending on what you tell us works better for you.
Your teacher, and the small team supporting them at ClassArc. We never sell, rent, or share your information with anyone outside ClassArc. We use Formspree to receive form submissions, and standard email and WhatsApp for messaging, nothing else.
We treat any information about your child with extra care. We only collect what we need to teach them well, such as their grade and what they're working on. We never use a child's photo, name, or work in any marketing without the parent's explicit written permission.
You can ask us to show you what we have on file, correct anything inaccurate, or delete your data entirely, at any time. Just email hello@theclassarc.com and we'll handle it within a few days.

ClassArc is a one-on-one online tutoring service. We provide live, scheduled classes between a teacher and a student, along with homework, feedback, and study support.
Each class is 55 minutes. You can reschedule or cancel a class up to 5 minutes before it starts. If you miss a class without notice, we usually credit it back to your balance and reschedule based on what works for the teacher and student.
The first demo class is free, no card required. After that, plans are billed in advance for the number of classes you choose (8, 24, or ~48). We'll send you a payment link directly once you've picked a plan.
If you want to stop classes at any point, we refund whatever class balance is left on your plan. No questions asked, no friction. Refunds are processed within 7 business days.
We expect students and parents to treat teachers with respect, and teachers to do the same. We reserve the right to end the relationship if classes become unsafe, abusive, or disruptive, with a full refund of any unused balance.
